Masterclass On Basic Occupational First Aid (BOFA)

This practical programme equips participants with essential first aid knowledge and workplace emergency skills, based on key requirements under OSHA 1994. Through guided practice, they learn how to respond to common injuries, perform CPR and AED usage, manage bleeding, burns, fractures, and assist unconscious casualties with confidence. The training also highlights legal obligations for employers, proper first aid room standards, and safety practices needed across industrial and high-risk environments.

This two-day course teaches basic First Aid Awareness, and how to administer basic first aid in the workplace. In addition, the legal obligations for the factory owner, employers and any entity engaging in various manufacturing and industries are also taught. The training briefly covers certain Guidelines and Regulations under the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA)1994. Participants will learn the legal requirement for first aid for workplaces in Malaysia, plus requirement for a proper first aid room and recommended equipment. In addition, participants will learn basic knowledge and skills to administer various types of first aid for injuries sustained in the workplace.

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate understanding of first aid legislation and workplace requirements under OSHA 1994 and NADOPOD Regulations 2004.
  2. Recognize and respond effectively to common workplace emergencies, including respiratory distress, bleeding, loss of consciousness, and cardiac arrest.
  3. Apply practical skills in CPR, AED usage, dressing, and bandaging techniques for adult casualties.
  4. Perform essential life-saving maneuvers such as recovery position and Heimlich maneuver with confidence.
  5. Manage various medical emergencies, including electrical shock, burns, fractures, and chemical poisoning.
  6. Safely execute casualty lifting, handling, and evacuation procedures while maintaining personal and workplace safety.
