C.O.R.E. HR : Stop The “Not My Job” Mindset
9 – 10 December 2025
Program Overview
The C.O.R.E. HR: Stop the “Not My Job” Mindset programme was successfully conducted on 16 April 2026 at RichQ, Shah Alam. Facilitated by the expert trainer Mr. Selvandran, this session brought together business owners, senior leaders, and HR professionals to tackle one of the most persistent barriers to organizational growth: the lack of employee ownership.
The programme addressed the reality that performance issues often stem from a mindset of avoidance rather than a lack of skill. Participants explored how the “not my job” attitude creates delays and team frustration, and learned how to shift the organizational culture toward proactive responsibility. The training focused on positioning HR and managers not just as support functions, but as the primary drivers of an ownership-driven work culture where every individual takes accountability for outcomes, not just tasks.
Key Learning Outcomes
- Recognise and diagnose behaviours that reflect a lack of ownership in the workplace.
- Identify root causes behind accountability gaps instead of focusing on surface-level complaints.
- Apply practical approaches to resolve people issues effectively without over-relying on escalation.
- Influence managers and employees to embrace responsibility for collective organizational goals.
- Strengthen the accountability culture within their respective teams to drive high performance.
Programme Experience
Delivered in an environment that challenged traditional management views, the programme at RichQ provided a platform for leaders to reflect on their own influence over team behavior.
Module 1 focused on Owning People Problems as HR, where Mr. Selvandran guided participants on the delicate balance of knowing when to step in and when to empower managers. Leaders learned to move beyond “firefighting” complaints and started focusing on supporting managers to handle their own people issues effectively. This shifted the perspective of HR from a “policing” role to a strategic guidance role.
Module 2 transitioned into Driving Ownership Mindset Across the Organisation. The focus was on practical strategies to address “not my job” behaviours head-on. Participants engaged in discussions on how to reinforce accountability and influence managers to take full ownership of their teams’ performance. The session concluded with actionable plans to create a more responsible and results-driven work culture. Participants left RichQ with a clear framework to stop the cycle of excuses and start building a team that truly owns its success.
