Data Storytelling & Mastering Presentation Skills (In-House)

Empowering professionals at Bousteador, Mutiara Damansara with Mr Shanizam to transform data into compelling business stories and deliver management presentations with clarity, confidence, and influence.

9 – 10 December 2025

Program Overview

The Data Storytelling & Mastering Presentation Skills programme was conducted on 14–15 September 2026 as an intensive 2-day in-house corporate training programme at the client’s office in Bousteador, Mutiara Damansara. Facilitated by Mr Shanizam, the programme focused on strengthening participants’ ability to transform complex data and business information into clear, meaningful stories and deliver professional presentations with greater confidence, structure, and influence.

In today’s business environment, presenting data effectively requires more than placing numbers, charts, and information onto slides. Professionals need to identify what matters, explain the business implications behind the data, and communicate recommendations in a way that supports management understanding and decision-making. The programme addressed common presentation challenges such as information overload, unclear objectives, weak presentation structure, and difficulty translating data into actionable insights.

At the centre of the programme was the 5C Presentation Framework — Cover, Capture, Content, Call to Action, and Close. Combined with data storytelling, executive presentation techniques, data visualisation, live presentation practice, coaching, and feedback, the programme provided participants with a structured approach to communicating business insights to management, stakeholders, and international audiences.

Key Learning Outcomes

By the end of the 2-day programme, participants were equipped to:

Programme Experience

Conducted over two days at Bousteador, Mutiara Damansara, the in-house programme combined structured learning with practical presentation exercises, assessment, coaching, reflection, and workplace application.

Rather than treating presentation skills as simply public speaking, Mr Shanizam guided participants through the complete process of understanding an audience, identifying the purpose behind a presentation, extracting insights from data, structuring a persuasive business narrative, designing effective slides, and delivering the final message with confidence.

Day 1 – Building Structure, Storytelling & Presentation Confidence

The programme began with an overview of common workplace presentation challenges, expectations alignment, and a Kahoot pre-assessment before moving into Understanding What Management Wants. Participants explored why management may lose attention during presentations, common presentation mistakes, and the differences between presentations intended for information sharing, recommendations, and decision-making.

The session then progressed into Data Storytelling for Decision Making, introducing the distinction between data, information, and insight. Through the “So What?” and “Now What?” principles, participants learned to move beyond simply reporting numbers and instead communicate why the information matters and what action should follow.

A major component of Day 1 was the 5C Presentation Framework:

Cover — What is this presentation about?
Capture — Why should management care?
Content — What are the key messages?
Call to Action — What decision or action is required?
Close — What should the audience remember?

Participants also explored Executive Presentation Essentials, covering confidence, credibility, nervousness management, executive presence, voice, tone, pace, body language, eye contact, overseas stakeholder presentations, and professional handling of questions.

The day further addressed PowerPoint & Data Visualisation Essentials, emphasising content before slides, one message per slide, executive-summary-first communication, meaningful data visualisation, and common slide mistakes.

Day 1 concluded with Presentation Practice Round 1, allowing participants to apply the 5C Framework and data storytelling techniques in a live presentation setting.

Day 2 – Refinement, Coaching & Presentation Excellence

Day 2 shifted the focus from learning the framework to refining actual presentation performance.

Participants returned for Presentation Practice Round 2, providing an opportunity to enhance their delivery after applying lessons and feedback from the first round. This practice-based structure allowed participants to work directly on their presentation approach rather than relying solely on theoretical learning.

The programme continued with a dedicated Presentation Coaching Clinic, where individual coaching and feedback addressed common presentation mistakes, storytelling, influence, executive communication, and best practices for management-level presentations.

Participants then developed a Personal Action Plan & Continuous Improvement roadmap, identifying individual strengths, development areas, workplace application strategies, and personal commitments for continued improvement.

The programme concluded with a Kahoot post-assessment, scenario-based application quiz, learning consolidation, personal reflection, programme evaluation, and commitment sharing – reinforcing how the techniques could be transferred from the training room into future workplace presentations.
