Employment Act 1955 & Industrial Relations Act 1967 (Malaysia)

Empowering corporate leaders at ThinkHub i-City to master the Employment Act and Industrial Relations Act, turning legal compliance into a strategic shield against workplace disputes.

9 – 10 December 2025

Program Overview

The Employment Act 1955 & Industrial Relations Act 1967 (Malaysia) masterclass was successfully executed on 14–15 July 2026 as an intensive public program at ThinkHub i-City. Facilitated by the highly regarded labor law and industrial relations expert Mr. Saiful Farhan, this comprehensive two-day course brought together HR professionals, line managers, and business leaders from various corporate sectors to master the complexities of Malaysian employment legislation.

Navigating the legalities of the workplace requires precision, especially following the recent sweeping statutory amendments. Misinterpreting compliance standards regarding working hours, wage calculations, or termination protocols can expose a company to heavy statutory penalties, union disputes, or costly backwages at the Industrial Court. This masterclass was structured to strip away legal jargon, equipping attendees with a highly practical, ironclad framework to protect their organizations while fostering a fair, legally compliant workplace environment.

Programme Experience

The energy at ThinkHub i-City over the two days was highly collaborative, analytical, and engaging. Because it was a public program, the diverse cohort of attendees shared varied real-world scenarios from different industries, providing a rich sandbox for peer-to-peer learning and practical problem-solving.

Day 1 was an intensive deep dive into Understanding the Employment Act 1955. Mr. Saiful Farhan guided the room through the critical shifts in the EA’s coverage, specifically addressing contract terms, payroll adjustments, and statutory leave expansions. The room shifted into an active workshop setting as participants audited sample employment handbooks and worked through complex computation exercises to ensure error-free calculations for working hours and overtime benefits.

Day 2 elevated the focus toward Industrial Relations & Dispute Resolution. The atmosphere became intensely practical as the cohort moved from statutory rules to behavioral and defensive HR management. Participants mapped out the legal roadmap for handling employee misconduct, grievances, and lawful termination. Under Mr. Saiful’s expert guidance, attendees analyzed real Industrial Court case studies, dissecting why employers win or lose dismissal disputes. The masterclass concluded with an interactive Q&A session, leaving the entire group thoroughly synchronized, highly confident, and fully armed with the tactical tools needed to safeguard their companies against industrial relation pitfalls.
